Schedule

• Hours: 40 hours per week

• Shift: Evening (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

• Days: Rotating days, start times, weekends, and holidays

• On-Call: May be required

Position Summary

A healthcare facility is seeking a Sterile Processing Aide / Sterile Processing Technician I to support surgical and clinical operations. This role is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment, ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards and delivering high-quality service to clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment

• Ensure compliance with infection control policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

• Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of sterilized equipment

• Communicate effectively with operating room staff and other clinical departments

• Provide professional and timely support to patients, clinicians, and hospital personnel

QualificationsSterile Processing Aide

• High School Diploma or GED (required)

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

• Basic computer proficiency

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (phone, intercom, and in-person)

• Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course or passage of the Medical Terminology Challenge Exam

• Must meet one of the following:

  • Completion of an Anatomy & Physiology course (high school level or higher)

  • Passage of an Anatomy Exam

  • SPD Technician Certification

  • Three (3) years of recent Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience within the past five years

Sterile Processing Technician I

• Must meet all qualifications of a Sterile Processing Aide, plus:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Sterile Processing Aide

  • Current SPD Technician Certification
