An opportunity is available for an experienced registered nurse with telemetry skills to provide acute inpatient care in a med-surg/telemetry unit. This contract role is based in the scenic Bristol, VT area and offers a rewarding chance to work in a well-equipped community hospital setting supporting diverse adult patient populations.

The hospital campus provides free parking on site and convenient access to local amenities. Reliable transportation is recommended due to some housing being 15 minutes away.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care on a 51-bed med-surg/telemetry unit specializing in post-operative orthopedic, urology, GI, and chronic medical cases including COPD, CHF, and diabetes
- Apply, interpret, and actively respond to telemetry monitoring requirements including rhythm interpretation and patient intervention
- Perform unit-specific procedures such as NG tube insertion, peripheral IV insertion, and telemetry strip analysis
- Collaborate closely with RNs, LPNs, LNAs, and ancillary staff to provide seamless patient-centered care
- Utilize electronic medical records and medication dispensing systems (Epic and Pyxis) to document and administer care accurately
- Participate in a rotating 12-hour shift schedule with options to pick-up additional 8-hour shifts and every other weekend coverage
- Adhere to professional appearance standards and unit protocols
- Support a team-oriented environment within a teaching hospital setting
Qualifications/Desired Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required with at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including a minimum of 1 year in telemetry or med-surg with telemetry responsibilities
- Current BLS, ACLS, and Telemetry certifications required
- Ability to competently perform peripheral IV placement preferred
- Experience with acute adult patient populations and telemetry rhythm interpretation essential
- Familiarity with hospital documentation and medication systems is a plus
- Reliable transportation preferred for commute and housing flexibility
Schedule/Hours
- 12-hour shifts with ability to self-schedule extra 8-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- No on-call responsibilities
