Job Description:
Our motion control group has a position available for a motivated, hardworking Engineering Technician to work on our engineering team under the guidance of experienced engineers. This position is a 3-month temporary assignment.
Copley motor drives are the most innovative in the industry and employ a wide variety of hardware and software technologies.
The ideal candidate will have the following Education, Skills and Experience
- Associates Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent
- Ability to understand and work from schematics, wire run lists, mechanical drawings and bills of material
- Ability to use hand tools, drill presses, press brakes and other shop equipment to build electro-mechanical assemblies in support of product evaluation and testing.
- Working proficiency with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes etc.) and bench electronics assembly tools including soldering irons
- Two or more years of hands-on experience building and repairing test fixtures and cables in an engineering development environment
- Experience managing, organizing and maintaining laboratory workspaces and supplies
- Must be able to work effectively in small team environment with some/limited supervision
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work safely in a lab environment
- Must be fluent in reading, writing and understanding English
- Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with schematic capture software such as OrCad or Allegro is a plus.
Responsibilities include
- Support the Engineering, New Product Development and Customer Applications teams by designing, documenting and building custom test set-ups
- Assemble, test and help debug prototype units
- Establish and maintain clean and organized laboratory workspaces
- Manage an inventory of laboratory supplies and place purchase requisitions as necessary to replenish stock
Other
- Ability to work occasional overtime to meet project needs is also a plus
This position is based in Canton, Massachusetts. Some travel to our Peabody facility is expected. Normal working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm.
