An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with strong Surgical Stepdown expertise to support a busy stepdown unit in Boston, MA. This role involves caring for post-operative patients in need of intermediate care transferred from PACU or SICU, including cardiothoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, trauma, and transplant cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess patients telemetry rhythms independently, interpreting telemetry rhythm strips accurately
- Manage care for post-operative stepdown patients, ensuring timely interventions and patient safety
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, case managers, and ancillary staff
- Utilize auto medication dispensing systems efficiently
- Provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced, tertiary facility environment
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient documentation
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years recent acute care nursing experience within a Surgical Stepdown or IMCU/Stepdown unit
- Demonstrated ability to perform Tele test and CC Med test upon orientation day
- Experience with more than one previous travel assignment preferred
- Prior experience in a tertiary care facility is a plus
- Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
- Ability to manage complex patients, often with ratios of 1:3 to 1:5
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts, PM shift
- 36 hours over nights on every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
