Job Overview&nbsp;

7. Works closely with nursing administration and education colleagues to ensure a smooth orientation process and to build a flexible workforce.&nbsp;
8. Report any non-adherence, poor performance, identified risk to the individual staff member and relevant clinical leader.&nbsp;
9. Coordinates and implements educational activities to validate competency of nursing department members on hospital wide and unit specific skills.&nbsp;
10. Assures that goals, standards, and regulatory requirements, and other standards are reflected in orientation, skill validation, in-service training and continuing education programs.&nbsp;
11. Facilitates and conducts the educational activities that incorporate new products, policies and procedures into the hospitals. Utilizes a variety of instructional methodologies that incorporate the theories of adult learning.&nbsp;
12. Designs cost effective methods of training for assuring competency of nursing staff in relation to new technology, products, policy and procedures and regulations.&nbsp;
13. Teaches in the classroom, in simulated clinical settings and in the patient care area.&nbsp;
14. Makes rounds on clinical units as appropriate to evaluate patient care of new graduate nursing staff.&nbsp;
15. Participates in system wide and unit-based committees, councils and task forces as designated.&nbsp;

North 8 is a 26-bed unit treating Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematology and Oncology patients.&nbsp;The patients have a general diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, sickle cell disease, solid tumor cancers, immune disorders, palliative care, and other hematologic malignancies.&nbsp; All disease related care for these case types is performed on the unit, including blood product support and administration of chemotherapy. The unit provides care for allogenic bone marrow transplants (including CAR-T therapy, umbilical cord blood transplant, matched unrelated donors and Haplo donors) and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant patients.&nbsp; The unit participates in infusional therapy for clinical trials as they relate to inpatient status. Patients receive Bipap, Cpap, High flow O2, telemetry, negative pressure dressings, specialty beds, PCA therapy.&nbsp;
