Position Summary
As an Orangetheory Fitness Coach, you’ll be the energy behind the workout. You’ll lead up to 36 members through dynamic, science-backed training sessions using Orangetheory’s proprietary method that blends cardio, strength, and power training. This role requires excellent coaching skills, time management, and the ability to motivate diverse fitness levels in a fast-paced group setting.
 
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Lead Orangetheory group workouts for up to 36 participants, delivering high-energy, engaging sessions that align with our methodology</li>
<li>Ensure the safety of all participants by providing real-time exercise corrections and modifications</li>
<li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the studio, especially the fitness floor</li>
<li>Help build class attendance and member retention through motivation, personal connection, and professional support</li>
<li>Represent Orangetheory at internal and external marketing events and initiatives</li>
<li>Stay current with Orangetheory programming and attend all required monthly team meetings, webinars, and continuing education opportunities</li>

Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Current nationally accredited fitness certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, AFAA, NFPT, NPTI, etc.) – Required</li>
<li>Current CPR/AED Certification – Required</li>
<li>1+ years of experience in personal training and/or group fitness instruction – Preferred</li>
<li>Intermediate knowledge of physiology, body mechanics, and functional movement</li>
<li>Ability to lead, motivate, and adapt training to all fitness levels in real time</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field – Preferred</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>Must be physically capable of demonstrating all exercises and lifting up to 40 lbs</li>
</ul>
Physical Demands
<ul>
<li>Must be able to actively demonstrate and perform exercises throughout the class</li>
<li>Ability to remain standing and vocal for the duration of the 60-minute workout</li>
<li>Frequently required to lift, bend, twist, and move equipment (e.g., dumbbells, TRX, medicine balls, Bosu balls, ab dollies)</li>

Position Overview: 
The Adaptive Aquatics Instructor is responsible for teaching and supervising water safety classes at the YWCA of Central MA swimming pool in Worcester, MA. As an Adaptive Aquatics Instructor, you will work with other Instructors and Lifeguards to lead fun safety activities and water games that maximize independence in the water. The swim program is open to individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families. Swim will be held on the first Saturday and the last Sunday of each month through June 2026 and the schedule is 1:30pm - 4:00pm.
During the months of July and August, our swim program takes place at Veterans Memorial, (Bennett Field), swimming pool in Worcester, MA. The summer hours are Friday mornings from 8:00am - 11am. 2025. 
Essential Functions: 
<ul>
<li>Be familiar with, and teach basic water safety skills</li>
<li>Be knowledgeable about aquatics exercise and its contraindications</li>
<li>Manage and instruct a group of 6-12 individuals with a range of disabilities (2 age groups)</li>
<li>Teach in accordance with the programming and leadership elements as outlined in the certification manual</li>
<li>Train and manage 2+ volunteers who will support activities with swimmers in the water</li>
<li>Recognize and respond effectively and appropriately to aquatic emergencies by using proper CPR first aid techniques as governed by the American Red Cross and MHS code procedures</li>
<li>Protect and maintain the dignity and confidentiality of others during stressful and/or emergency situations</li>
<li>Ensure participants compliance with safety rules and regulations as required by the DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation)</li>
<li>Enforce all DCR pool and state policies, rules, and regulations relative to the pool area for maintenance and potential hazards</li>
<li>Complete attendance and incidence reports in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Report unsafe conditions and faulty equipment to Aquatics Director or supervisor</li>
</ul>
Other Functions:
<ul>
<li>Participate in Easterseals Water Safety and disability etiquette training</li>
<li>Create a respectful, fun, and social atmosphere for swimmers including both individual and group activities</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Current Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification</li>
<li>American Red Cross CPR certified</li>
<li>American Red Cross Community First Aid &amp; Safety certified</li>
<li>Must be 18 years of age</li>
</ul>
Preferred Experience:
<ul>
<li>Experience providing water exercise instruction to people with disabilities</li>
<li>Experience working with all age groups in an aquatic setting.</li>
</ul>
