SUMMARY The Race Program will have alpine race coaching responsibilities in Jay Peak’s Mid-week Race Program which runs primarily December - January. Job DescriptionDescriptionPosition Summary: The Charlestown YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Basketball Coach to lead our youth basketball and Jr Celtics programs. This role involves coaching and refereeing for children aged 3-8. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a solid understanding of basketball fundamentals. The coach will be responsible for both teaching basketball skills and facilitating games, creating an engaging and supportive environment for all participants. &nbsp; &nbsp;Shifts: &nbsp;Part Time, Friday 4:00pm-7:00pm (Some Saturday events) Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:

<li>Instruct and coach children on basketball fundamentals, including skills and drills.</li>
<li>Referee games, ensuring fair play and adherence to the rules.</li>
<li>Session Structure: Begin each session with a brief lesson on drills, followed by facilitating gameplay among participants.</li>
<li>Adapt to a schedule that may change based on enrollment.</li>
<li>Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere.</li>
<li>Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.</li>
</ul>
&nbsp; Skills, Knowledge &amp; ExpertiseQualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Previous experience in basketball coaching, particularly with young children.</li>
<li>Familiarity with basketball rules and ability to referee games.</li>
<li>Strong communication and organizational skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work Friday evenings and occasional Saturdays.</li>
<li>Commitment to the entire duration of the Fall sessions.</li>

A Typical Day as a Coach:

<li>Sessions (30-45 minutes) will take place between 9 am-12 pm (Monday-Sunday) or 1 pm-6:30 pm (Monday-Friday).</li>
<li>Arrive on time and create a positive experience for both children and families.</li>
<li>Lead engaging activities at local parks, schools, or indoor fields using our curriculum that emphasizes skill development and character building.</li>
