Position Overview: 
The Adaptive Aquatics Instructor is responsible for teaching and supervising water safety classes at the YWCA of Central MA swimming pool in Worcester, MA. As an Adaptive Aquatics Instructor, you will work with other Instructors and Lifeguards to lead fun safety activities and water games that maximize independence in the water. The swim program is open to individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families. Swim will be held on the first Saturday and the last Sunday of each month through June 2026 and the schedule is 1:30pm - 4:00pm.
During the months of July and August, our swim program takes place at Veterans Memorial, (Bennett Field), swimming pool in Worcester, MA. The summer hours are Friday mornings from 8:00am - 11am. 2025. 
Essential Functions:

<li>Be familiar with, and teach basic water safety skills</li>
<li>Be knowledgeable about aquatics exercise and its contraindications</li>
<li>Manage and instruct a group of 6-12 individuals with a range of disabilities (2 age groups)</li>
<li>Teach in accordance with the programming and leadership elements as outlined in the certification manual</li>
<li>Train and manage 2+ volunteers who will support activities with swimmers in the water</li>

<li>Protect and maintain the dignity and confidentiality of others during stressful and/or emergency situations</li>

The Town of Brookline is seeking a part-time Adaptive Aquatics Instructor to provide individualized and small-group swim instruction for participants with disabilities in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Weekly hours are scheduled based on participant enrollment. Work takes place primarily at the pool, but programs may occasionally be held outdoors or in the community.
Responsibilities

As an OTF Fitness Coach, you will be responsible for delivering scientifically predesigned workouts for up to 45 clients per session. This position requires a strong ability to coach and manage time, motivating multiple clients in a group setting. An OTF Coach must focus on a well-rounded theory of fitness, including endurance, strength, and power, using the tools given to optimize the clients experience and results. Responsibilities

<li>Lead, inspire and motivate members through demonstrating exercises and proper techniques of pre-defined workouts. Help members set and achieve goals.</li>
<li>Clearly demonstrate and explain exercises, ensuring participants understand the correct form and technique to perform them safely and effectively. Offer options to accommodate various fitness levels or any individual limitations.</li>
<li>Managing class dynamics: Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere by fostering a sense of community and teamwork among participants. Manage the flow of the class, ensuring a smooth transition between exercises and keeping everyone engaged and focused.</li>
<li>Understand the science behind the Orangetheory Fitness workouts - specifically heart-rate-interval training</li>
<li>Ensure safety and preventing injuries: Prioritize the safety of participants by monitoring their movements, correcting improper form, and addressing any safety concerns. Maintain a clean and hazard-free exercise environment and be prepared to administer basic first aid if necessary</li>
<li>Consistent member engagement and outreach</li>
</ul>
Requirements 
<ul>
<li>Must currently hold current fitness certification from an OTF approved education company such as ACSM, ACE, NASM, NCSA, AFAA, or NFPT</li>
<li>Intermediate knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task and stay organized</li>
<li>Positive, motivating and effective interpersonal communication skills</li>
<li>Desire and capacity to train all fitness levels</li>
<li>Bachelors degree in an exercise related field is preferred</li>
<li>CPR/AED certification</li>
<li>1+ years of experience teaching groups or personal training in the fitness industry</li>
<li>Excellent communication and customer service skills</li>
<li>Must be able to safely lift and move up to 40lbs</li>
