<li>Monitor floor-based measuring and testing equipment for correct usage and status and assist in maintaining active registers of devices; and notify Quality Lab Supervisor of needed repairs / replacements</li>
<li>Perform daily measurements regarding product specifications and molding attributes</li>
<li>Monitor and Support new product commercialization and new part number startups, collecting appropriate sample materials to be inspected and tested as directed</li>

Position Overview: The Senior SMT Process Engineer will provide expertise in all aspects of SMT production including printing machines, Stencil design, SPI/AOI programming, reflow oven profiling, X-Ray inspection, and equipment maintenance. This position requires excellent troubleshooting skills of Surface Mount Equipment to ensure optimal equipment availability in a low-volume, high-mix environment.
Responsibilities:

<li>Generate offline programs for Fuji and Universal pick and place machines; performs online verification. </li>
<li>Create and modify component profiles for SMT and AOI equipment.</li>
<li>Generate inspection programs for SPI and AOI equipment.</li>
<li>Develop and Maintain oven profiles.</li>
<li>Provides training and technical support to Engineering Techs, machine operators, and maintenance techs.</li>
<li>Assures that customer and company standards are being met.</li>
<li>Routinely analyzes performance data and leads improvement initiatives to improve quality, cost, and delivery. </li>
<li>Supports Manufacturing and helps assure daily production targets are met. </li>
<li>Applies Lean Manufacturing Techniques to improve quality/yields, reduce changeover time, and optimize leadtime and costs.</li>
<li>Optimizes machine set-up, changeover, and programming (line balancing).</li>
<li>Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) launch activities; performs DFx analysis of new customer designs using Valor software.</li>
<li>Manipulates data files using Gerber, ODB++, and various CAD packages.</li>
<li>Supports and adheres to the Quality Management System </li>

Education and Experience for the SMT Process Engineer:
<ul>
<li>BS Degree in a related Engineering discipline required.</li>
<li>Must have solid engineering experience in the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) industry in a high-reliability environment; contract manufacturing experience a plus.</li>
<li>Fuji and/or Univeral programming software experience is required; SPI/AOI programming is a plus.</li>
<li>Must have excellent problem solving skills and possess good analytical, verbal and written communication skills </li>
<li>Experience with customers on identifying and suggesting DFx opportunities; experience with Valor DFx analysis tools is a plus.</li>
<li>Experience should include working with all SMT Processes – SMT Pick and Place, Manual &amp; Thermal profiling, Automatic Optical Inspection, and X-Ray. </li>
<li>Experience with RoHS and familiar with IPC-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.</li>
<li>Strong leadership and coaching/mentoring skills </li>
<li>Strong organizational and communication skills - written and verbal </li>

Job DescriptionA perfectionist with intense attention to detail, exceptional machining skills, and creative problem-solving capabilities will be well suited for a challenging position in Creare’s Shop. Creare is an R&amp;D environment where new technologies are developed in prototype quantities. Machining jobs range from basic ones to those requiring the utmost precision where tolerances are often less than one ten-thousandth of an inch.&nbsp;&nbsp;Hardware examples include miniature gas-bearing turbomachines that spin at over 500,000 rpm, a cryogenic refrigerator on the Hubble Space Telescope, turbomolecular vacuum pumps on Mars, and aircraft carrier equipment.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Duties include working collaboratively with engineers, developing process plans and fixture designs, manual machining, and inspection. A minimum of 10 years of relevant machining experience or 5 years of relevant experience with vocational/apprenticeship training in the Machine trades (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is required.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ideal candidates would have the ability to work on manual lathes and mills with experience in aerospace and/or prototype environments.&nbsp;&nbsp;The ability to program, set up, and operate CNC machines would provide additional value but is not required since the primary responsibilities for this position will be manual machining.&nbsp;&nbsp;A creative mind, high energy, strong initiative, and good interpersonal and communication skills are required to excel at Creare.&nbsp;&nbsp;Training will be provided by working alongside other experienced Creare Machinists.
