Job Description
About the Role:
 
Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure that plant equipment, machinery, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
Implement and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability and performance.
Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and operational lifespan of plant equipment.
 
Key Responsibilities may include:
<ul>
<li>Develop and manage a robust preventive maintenance program to ensure timely and effective maintenance, reducing equipment downtime and improving overall plant efficiency.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, actively enforcing corporate Zero Harm policies and conducting regular safety checks on equipment and building services.</li>
<li>Implement process reliability systems and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at achieving equipment reliability and efficiency targets.</li>
<li>Manage the procurement, inventory, and budget control of spare parts and consumables, ensuring effective stock management to support maintenance activities.</li>
<li>Lead and support capital expenditure projects related to equipment upgrades, new installations, and plant improvements, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.</li>
<li>Monitor and optimize the use of utilities such as electricity, gas, and water, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.</li>
<li>Ensure plant compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards through regular safety audits, equipment testing, and asset management processes.</li>
<li>Lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team, ensuring adequate staffing, training, and performance management to meet the operational needs of the plant.</li>
</ul>
Equipment Types

<li>Material Handling Conveyance such as chain conveyors, roller conveyors, belt conveyors and robotics.</li>

Essential Qualifications
<ul>
<li>HNC Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.</li>
<li>Desirable Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline desirable</li>

About the Role:
 
Maintain plant equipment and machinery to ensure optimal working condition while driving continuous improvements aligned with operational priorities.
Perform timely and effective root cause analysis to resolve equipment failures, enhancing efficiency, quality, and overall reliability.
Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues across a range of plant equipment, including conveyors, pallet handling systems, and other manufacturing machinery.
 
Key Responsibilities may include:

<li>Support the site’s reliability initiatives by identifying failure modes, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment performance.</li>
<li>Assist in scheduling and executing maintenance tasks, ensuring proper documentation of work orders and tasks to maintain accurate maintenance records.</li>

2nd shift: 3:30pm to 12:00am, Monday to Friday 
As a proactive team member, working varying shifts, the Automation Technician I is responsible for performing and managing plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager. Maintenance activities must ensure that employee health and safety, product safety, and the protection of the environment are never compromised, and that all maintenance activities enhance product quality, plant performance and business priorities. The Maintenance Technician 2 will adhere to all health and safety policies and directives and maintain a clean safe work area. This position partners with internal and external engineering services and local parts vendors to ensure automated equipment operates at the highest level of efficiencies and will advocate improvement projects as assigned.
Major/Key Accountabilities
<ul>
<li>Responsible for hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all plant pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric systems including program logic control (PLC) systems controls machine network devices (EthernetIP Network). The Maintenance Technician will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in all plant manufacturing equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, conveyers, process pallet handling machines, dismantling, painting and stencilling systems.</li>
<li>Responsible for hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all process hand tools, such as pneumatic or electric reciprocating saws and nail guns</li>
<li>Performs minor unscheduled maintenance and repair on trucking equipment such as forklifts and yard shuttle trucks</li>
<li>The Maintenance Technician is responsible for accurate and timely documentation of performance and processes as required by local and regional leadership. The Maintenance Technician will schedule, execute and properly document work orders within the corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).</li>
<li>The Maintenance Technician will accurately complete additional scheduling and repair material documentation and reporting as required. Active participation in machine process and design improvement forums is required. The Maintenance Technician will provide coaching on use and repair of industrial production equipment.</li>
<li>Maintenance Technician will participate in health and safety programs including council or committee meetings, OSHA and corporate mandated training, certification and recertification.</li>
<li>Basic use of welding/cutting equipment.</li>
<li>And any other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
Qualifications &amp; Experience
This position requires demonstrated experience in maintaining and repairing plant production equipment.&nbsp; Specific areas of expertise include:
<ul>
<li>3-5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance.</li>
<li>Knowledge of HMI operation and troubleshooting.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Proven track record of production machine maintenance and repair success.</li>
<li>History of effectively working in a team environment.</li>
<li>Mechanically inclined – Knowledge of and demonstrable ability to use common mechanics tools.</li>
<li>Willing to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays with on-call availability.</li>
<li>Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.</li>
<li>Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for up to 12 hours and lift 75 pounds.</li>
<li>Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for troubleshooting.</li>
<li>Ability to use an electrical Multimeter for troubleshooting.</li>
<li>Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial pneumatic and hydraulic system components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors and solenoids.</li>
<li>Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical system components such as motors, variable AC drives, PLCs, and field sensors.</li>
<li>Understanding of industrial air compressors and peripheral components such as, dryers, water separators and automatic bleed off.</li>
</ul>
