Part - Time Communications Specialist for Fire/EMS
The Southwestern New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid Communications Center (SWNHDFMA) located in Keene, NH, is seeking dedicated and composed individuals to join our team as part-time Communications Specialists for fire and EMS dispatch. This position plays a critical role in coordinating emergency response efforts across the multiple municipalities within the district, serving as the primary point of contact for calls related to fire and emergency medical services.
The Communications Specialists are responsible for accurately triaging calls, dispatching units utilizing advanced Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and radio communication systems; and managing multi-agency coordination during mutual aid and mass casualty incidents.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with public safety experience preferred, and demonstrate exceptional communication skills, the ability to perform effectively under pressure, and proficiency with complex computer software, multi-line telephony, and two-way radios. A commitment to working rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required. Preferred certifications include APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator, ICS/NIMS (100, 200, 700, 800), CPR, and First Aid.
Success in this role requires calmness, sound decision-making, accuracy in data entry, and a collaborative approach to teamwork. This part-time, union-represented position offers competitive compensation and ongoing professional development opportunities. Hourly range: $24.27-$32.19 depending on qualifications and experience.
