Job Title – Project Manager
Location – Boston, MA 02116
Duration – 12+ months contract position, with the possibility of extension
Shift Time – Mon – Fri
***Hybrid, need to be in office as needed, expected to be 2-3 days a week***
Position Overview:
- This position will project manage the day-to-day work to deliver the MBTA’s next long-range capital plan, the Program for Mass Transportation, over an 18-month period.
- The person selected for this role should have some background in urban planning, public policy, or transportation, including experience working with the public, with data analysis, and technical writing.
- Responsibilities will include general project management; gathering feedback from the public through public meetings, popup events, surveys, etc; spreadsheet and GIS of data including land use, asset condition, cost, and public feedback data; drafting of a report, PowerPoint, and web content to summarize the results of the plan.
- The selected candidate will work closely with other staff in the Policy and Strategic Planning Department, who may be contributors to tasks within the plan, and will support ongoing engagement of MBTA staff and members of the public in the planning process.
- We anticipate time allocations for this contractor may include: project management (50%), research and analysis (30%), public engagement (15%), and other duties (5%).
- If appropriate, and subject to the applicable laws and regulations, the MBTA will be responsible for providing Resource with access to all program files, libraries, personal computer-based systems, software packages, network systems, security systems, and hardware as required to complete this work order
Skills Required:
- Experience developing urban planning, transportation planning, or public policy initiatives
- Experience leading or managing projects or plans
- Experience engaging with the public in public meetings, popups and other formats
- Experience presenting complex information at a high level in diverse settings
Skills Preferred:
- Demonstrated successful experience in quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods, including GIS, excel, etc
- Excellent facilitation abilities and demonstrated facilitation experience in planning,developing, leading, and managing in both large and small group
- Demonstrated success with writing policy memos and presentations with recommendations based on stakeholder feedback and data analysis
- Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.
- relevant work experience collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders including in complex organizations
