Job DescriptionPosition Summary: The Warehouse Worker supports the warehouse operations (receiving, shipping, inventory) and completes shipments by processing and loading orders. The Warehouse Worker’s responsibilities include unloading/sorting/constructing telecommunications cable into bundles, operating a forklift to handle inbound and outbound truck activity, storage and retrieval of finished product, assistance with physical inventory counts, organization, proper labeling of stored product, and completing inbound/outbound documentation protocol to ensure inventory accuracy. This position will be based onsite at our Newark, NJ warehouse and will report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Daily tasks will vary depending on the assigned area and may include:
- Receiving - Unload truck containers, sort materials, construct bundles onto pallet, weigh bundles/pallets, record weight, and take product to designated location
- Shipping - Bring product from designated location to the shipping dock and/or load into a truck
- Inventory control
- Verify that paperwork matches the freight for Shipping and Receiving
- Review appointment schedules for daily activity
- Ensure physical inventory count matches warehouse management system count
- Follow process work instructions
- Support teamwork and work area cleanliness
- Follow handbook, safety guidelines, and strict security protocols in ensuring the protection of cable at all stages of custody
- Ensure appropriate safeguarding of equipment and cable to avoid injury or damage
- Comply with safety protocols/environmental regulations/labor laws at all times
- Notify Supervisor of any non-compliances
- Be available to work overtime on short notice
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with operating heavy machinery or completed apprenticeship is a plus
- Ability to identify and handle basic issues and problems while escalating more complex issues to supervisor/management
- Ability to follow instructions under stressful situations/environments
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift and pull heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to complete physical fitness test
- Demonstrated ability to drive a forklift and pass an internal forklift driving test
Required PPE: slip-resistant safety shoes, disposable coverall, mask, gloves, and safety vest. #IND1
