Job Description
Why Join Us?
Parabilis Medicines, Inc is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering the discovery and development of Helicon™ peptide therapeutics; these ultra diverse alpha-helical peptides are capable of efficient cell entry and modulation of both protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. Through Helicon therapeutics, Parabilis is poised to revolutionize the medical possibilities for patients by precisely drugging intracellular targets long understood to be significant drivers of disease but never before drugged due to the limitations of existing drug modalities to act within the cell. FOG-001, the company's first-in-class TCF-blocking β-catenin inhibitor, is being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 study for patients with advanced solid tumors, including desmoid tumors and colorectal cancer. Parabilis is fully leveraging the unprecedented potential Helicons present by deploying proprietary, custom-built machine learning and computational methods as part of its discovery and development process. Parabilis Medicines has raised more than $500 million to date from leading life sciences investors. Parabilis is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.
What's the opportunity?
As a senior scientist at Parabilis and a biology lead for a preclinical oncology program, you'll help drive the biological strategy through candidate selection and IND-enabling studies, integrating mechanistic insight and in vitro/in vivo pharmacology for our one of our novel HeliconTM peptide programs. We're looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist with significant experience in cell and molecular biology to report to the Sr. Director, Biology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently design, execute, and interpret in vitro assays (e.g., viability, degradation, CRISPR/RNAi perturbation).
- Work closely with pharmacology and chemistry colleagues to support in vivo validation studies and SAR decision making.
- Oversee external work with CROs: write SOWs, ensure scientific rigor, timelines, and budget adherence. Work onsite with limited travel to oversee CROs.
- Sit on a core team as the Biology Lead to hep drive go/ no-go recommendations. In partnership with the Program Lead, drive the biology strategy for a preclinical oncology program; define key hypotheses, decision points, and a data driven plan from hit to lead through IND enabling.
- Mentor junior scientists and foster high standards for experimental design, documentation (ELN), and reproducibility.
- Communicate clearly across levels: crisp slides, data packages, experimental plans, and narrative that link results to program decisions.
What you'll need to be successful:
- Ph.D. and 5+ years of industry experience in cancer biology as a biology lead.
- Experience in drug discovery, hit-to-lead process, degrader programs, and matrixed teams
- Innovative, creative, inquisitive, motivated researcher with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in a broad range of molecular and cellular techniques including: NanoBRET and HiBiT assays, western blotting, qPCR. transfection, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, cell-based functional assays.
- Experience in managing relationships with collaborators and/or CROs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a track record of cross-functional collaboration
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistics (e.g., GraphPad Prism, FlowJo; familiarity with R/Python or Spotfire is a plus).
Preferred but not required:
- Biotech experience with ADC programs.
- People management experience.
- Publication/patent record that demonstrates depth in oncology or molecular/cell biology.
- Familiarity with functional genomics (CRISP screens), multi-omics (RNAseq/singlecell/spatial), and imaging based pharmacodynamic readouts.
- Prior contribution to IND submissions or regulatory interactions for nonclinical pharmacology.
