Summary/Objective:
The Assistant Superintendent I will serve as a vital team member assisting the Lead Superintendent on the full scope of the physical construction of the project. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for Safety, QA/QC, Subcontractor Management, Document Control, Schedule, Relationship Management & Project Management while representing Callahan Construction Managers throughout the full project cycle. The Assistant Superintendent I directs the day-to-day work of Callahan, Inc. tradesmen and the Subcontractors to turn out high quality work, within budget and on time. The Assistant Superintendent I also plans in advance and ensures the flow of personnel and materials will be available.

Essential Functions
Safety:
- Enforce compliance with all safety laws and regulations. Stop unsafe work and order Callahan, Inc. and Subcontractor employees away from hazards, etc.
- Review safety inspection reports, verify remediation has occurred, and document
- Assist with NFPA 241 Compliance
- Review site security daily - gates, fence line, signage, cameras
- Understand protocols and notify the Superintendent of all incidents and near misses
- Distribute and receive Subcontractor toolbox talks
- Maintaining onsite files of Subcontractor safety programs and MSDS sheets
- Ensure subcontractors follow steps outlined in JHAs and SOAPs
QA/QC:
- Understand Project QA/QC management and mockup plans
- Assist with tracking and close out of field reports in the Callahan Deficiency Log
- Assist with First Material Inspections and tracking
- Schedule and record 3rd party inspections
- Verify & Execute:
- Dimensional verification
- Accuracy of work in place
- Adherence to MAAB/FHA/ADA requirements
- Assist in creating and managing punch & turnover process utilizing PlanGrid
Subcontractor Management:
- Manage risk prevention requirements of site and Subcontractors by ensuring subcontracts and insurances are in place prior to mobilization
- Execute site specific safety orientations and ensure that all Subcontractor employees have undergone badging and safety review prior to starting work
- Consistently walk project and ensure Callahan employee is present when Subcontractors are on-site
- Ensure work is available to subcontractors to be successful
- Assist with daily reports & SWPPPs inspections
- Maintain good communication and relationships with the labor force and their leaders.
- Monitor delivery schedule, coordinate and record deliveries, vendor and material type
- Manage and enforce daily cleanup, housekeeping, labor forces and trash removal
- Notify the Lead Superintendent of any delays resulting from labor, equipment or material shortages
Document Control:
- Manage all field files including plans, specifications, RFIs, shop drawings, safety documents, etc.
- Assist with preparing docs for Subcontractor weekly meetings & Track Subcontractor Daily Reports
- Update all required binders
- Provide daily photo documentation of project and upload to job folder
- Track hot list items
- Assist with T&M Log tracking
Schedule:
- Understand and track progress of 3 week look ahead
- Plan work in advance to eliminate conflicts in plans specifications or between trades, and to ensure material and equipment deliveries as required
- Monitor subcontractors to ensure that they maintain adequate forces and productivity to execute the work in accordance with the schedule requirements. Communicate with the Lead Superintendent regarding shortcomings
Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with Subcontractors
- Communicate effectively in a prompt and professional manner
- Foster an encouraging team environment
Project Management:
- Manage daily activities and plan in advance for all needs of the project
- Manage site logistics to the approved logistics plan
- Understand the plans and specifications
- Notify the Lead Super of all required cost changes involving field conditions and receive authorization before proceeding
- Provide weekend coverage of Project in conjunction with entire team
- Initiate adequate procedures and control for tool and material security
