Director of Safety & Training - CDL Program

Lead the Next Generation of Professional Drivers
We are seeking a proven safety and training leader to oversee a high-performing CDL training program dedicated to developing skilled, compliant, and safety-driven commercial drivers.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for instructional excellence, regulatory compliance, and operational oversight across classroom, yard, and road training environments. As a key member of campus leadership, you will shape instructor performance, student outcomes, and the overall quality and reputation of the program.
Your leadership will directly impact safety culture, training standards, and long-term workforce development.
What You Will Own
• Lead, mentor, and develop all CDL instructional staff
• Oversee classroom, yard, and behind-the-wheel training operations
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and coach instructors to ensure consistency and compliance
• Update and enhance curriculum aligned with industry best practices and regulatory standards
• Drive student engagement from orientation through successful program completion
• Coordinate CDL testing logistics with RMV and DMV agencies
• Ensure fleet safety, maintenance oversight, and compliance with OSHA and DOT standards
• Manage instructional budgets, payroll, and equipment procurement
• Foster a culture rooted in safety, professionalism, and accountability
What You Bring
• Valid CDL-A license - required
• 3+ years of CDL driving experience
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
• Background in driver training, fleet safety, or technical education
• Strong leadership presence with sound decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to meet DOT medical and physical requirements
• Preferred - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, transportation management, or related field
