The Respite Provider and Group Facilitator supports children and young adults with disabilities by offering safe, compassionate respite care and leading small group activities that build social, emotional, and daily living skills. This role ensures families receive much-needed breaks while their children participate in inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision and care to children and young adults with varying developmental and physical needs in both individual and group settings.
- Plan and facilitate group activities focused on social skills, communication, motor development, and daily living skills, adapting as needed for participants abilities.
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all participants at all times.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with families, caregivers, and team members regarding participant needs, progress, and concerns.
- Support children with personal care, mobility, feeding, and behavioral needs as required.
- Document attendance, activities, and any incidents or concerns according to organizational policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings to maintain best practices in care and group facilitation.
- Complete Foortime 101 training within 2 months of hire
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or coursework in education, social work, or human services preferred.
- Experience working with children or young adults with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain patient, flexible, and positive in a dynamic environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Must pass background checks as required by state and organizational policy.
- Early Intervention (NH FCESS) experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
- Ability to actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
Schedule:
Part-time or flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends, based on program needs.
