As a Housing Counselor, you'll provide counseling and education to consumers who are considering a reverse mortgage. The housing counselor will provide information regarding how reverse mortgages work, including payment options, costs, tax implications, benefits and risks of a reverse mortgage. . You’ll help clients gain a clear understanding of their situation and guide them toward the best possible solutions. The counselor will provide guidance and resources to enable the client to make an informed decision and provide ongoing support to the client throughout the process, in compliance with HUD’s guidelines. We’re hiring remote housing counselors with flexible hours, including Saturdays.
What You Bring to ACCC:
- Must already be HECM certified, and HUD Counseling Certified or willing to be certified within 60-90 days, which involves passing an examination.
- At least one-year HECM counseling experience preferred or an equivalent combination of previous housing counseling or credit counseling.
- Ability to perform math/accounting equations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to counsel on the phone and in-person.
- Ability to be extremely detail oriented, compassionate, and consistent.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8+ hours/day)
- Talking on the phone for extended periods of time
- Frequent use of hands/fingers for typing and operating a keyboard, mouse, and phone
- Ability to wear a headset for extended periods
- Vision sufficient to read computer screens and documents
- Hearing sufficient to understand customer conversations via phone
- Occasional walking or standing, depending on office layout or home setup
- Lifting up to 10-15 lbs., such as small office supplies or materials (optional; depends on setting)
