What you'll do
- Diagnose root causes and repair production machinery and facility systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, electrical).
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment and forklifts.
- Clean, lubricate, grease, and oil machinery and tools to maintain optimal condition.
- Support teammates in troubleshooting using schematics, manuals, and sound judgment.
- Complete minor electrical tasks (bulbs, fuses) and assist with basic carpentry and repairs; if licensed, perform routine repairs on electrically powered equipment per supervisor/senior technician guidance.
- Service and replace minor plumbing fixtures.
- Apply coatings (paint/varnish/stain) to protect and extend equipment life.
- Set up, remove, and store production molds per documented procedures.
- Maintain fill guns and ejectors: bench test, clean, rebuild, and inspect.
- Perform water treatment checks: collect, test, and document water hardness, pH, and other parameters at multiple process points.
- Follow job specifications and task lists; complete required paperwork accurately.
- Champion safety: lockout/tagout, required PPE, and good housekeeping.
How you'll work
- Operate as a self-starter who manages time well and can work independently.
- Conduct parts and supplies inventory; collaborate with suppliers and internal departments.
- Support Altor Solutions’ standards for safety and conduct.
- Flex to assigned shifts, overtime, and occasional after-hours meetings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; two-year degree or technical certificate preferred.
- 3+ years of related maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated trade proficiency and independent capability for standard repairs and maintenance.
Additional experience
- MRP/ERP work order process familiarity.
- Experience with low-pressure boilers, air compressors, air dryers, and vacuum pumps.
- Forklift maintenance experience.
- Proficiency reading schematics to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
Tools & materials
All required tools are provided by the plant; personal tools may be used if reviewed and approved by plant management.
Physical demands
- Lift and carry up to 45 pounds frequently.
- Close vision capability.
- Regular: sitting; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; talking or hearing.
- Frequent: standing and walking; reaching with hands and arms; stooping/crouching; bending or twisting.
- Occasional: pushing/pulling/moving materials; working in awkward positions (e.g., beneath equipment, around operating machinery).
