Position Overview: Art Teacher (Grades K–8)
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a talented and passionate Art Teacher to deliver high-quality visual arts instruction to students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. The Art Teacher will implement the MVRCS art program in alignment with the Core Knowledge curriculum and support students in developing foundational artistic skills through direct instruction, demonstrations, and individualized coaching.
The Art Teacher is responsible for delivering art instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum. They will design and implement lessons that include clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes, ensuring that students are actively engaged and progressing. Ongoing assessment of student work is essential, with timely feedback provided through progress reports and report cards. The teacher will create and present sample artwork to guide and inspire students while offering individualized coaching and feedback to support their artistic development. Maintaining effective classroom management through the school’s assertive discipline model is a key component of the role. The Art Teacher will collaborate regularly with the Specials team and the assigned Assistant Director, attend staff meetings, and participate in all required professional development sessions. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Assistant Director as needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field required

Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Capacity to build effective relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community

Deep understanding of visual arts content and pedagogy

Ability to plan and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons tailored to student needs and school objectives

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively

Willingness to collaborate, take initiative, and contribute to a positive team culture

Must pass all applicable MTELs within one year of employment
