Our Residential Services program operates six homes in Newton and Brookline where our team provides the individuals in these homes with a safe and comfortable environment.

Job Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Administration Department
Responsible To: CFO
Summary Description:
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Payroll, Accounts Payable and account reconciliations, playing a major role in the month-end process. This role will assist with other activities to support the growth of our programs including financial analysis, audit, and other responsibilities as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare account reconciliations, and assist with financial projections
- Support the finance department with the implementation and improvement of finance-related software systems
- Work closely with our controller and auditors during annual financial audit and other audits
- Process payroll and act as oversight for payroll processing and personnel reporting through ADP Workforce Now
- Work with staff accountant on tasks related to payroll, A/R, vendor relations, and departmental reporting
- Prepare check runs
- Review all the payables for processing and maintain accurate vendor records
- Oversee vendor contracting processes and ensure vendor contracts, W-9s and COIs are kept up to date
- Assist with state contract billing on a monthly basis
- Oversee monthly reconciliation of departmental records, acting as partner to other departments with a goal of optimal efficiency and timely reporting
- Identify and communicate opportunities for changes to improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to streamline operations
- Provide support to the finance team to ensure successful transfer of knowledge for critical processes, procedures, and tools.
- Maintain written policies and procedures for all job-related activities, keeping them up to date as they change
- Monitor purchasing for compliance and quality as completed by Receptionist
Required Qualifications and Proven Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably some in a non-profit setting
- Service-oriented team player with a professional demeanor
- Demonstrated effectiveness in staff development and team building, able to manage through influence and collaboration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the following software is desirable: QuickBooks, ADP WorkForce Now and Mineral Tree
- Proficiency with the Microsoft office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Physical Requirements:
- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, photocopier/scanner and phone/cell phone
- Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position
- The person in this position frequently communicates with staff, vendors and clients regarding accounting processes/procedures. Must- be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
