The Emerald Necklace Conservancy is a private, non-profit stewardship organization established in 1997 with the primary mission of restoring, improving, and protecting the historic Emerald Necklace park system in Boston and Brookline. As a dedicated guardian of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted's late 19th-century vision, the Conservancy serves as the critical link between public agencies and the private sector to ensure these 1,100 acres of green space thrive for modern urban residents. The Conservancy is dedicated to stewarding the 1,100-acre linear Emerald Necklace park system in Boston and Brookline, connecting over 15 diverse neighborhoods. Our vision: A thriving Emerald Necklace where people and parks care for each other, made possible through thoughtful parks care, people-driven programming and inclusive policy work.
Position Overview
The Emerald Necklace Conservancy seeks an enthusiastic, outgoing and creative communications professional to maintain and increase public awareness of Boston's historic Emerald Necklace park system and the Conservancy's work - via press relations, social media, marketing and communications initiatives, the Shattuck Visitor Center and in-parks signage and mobile tour guide programs. Serving on the Marketing and Communications team and reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager is charged with increasing the public's awareness, appreciation, use of and support for the Emerald Necklace and the work of the Conservancy through a mutually reinforcing program of social media, special events, communications, visitor resources and media relations. This position is hybrid, requiring two or more regular workdays in the Conservancy offices at 350 Jamaicaway and/or 125 The Fenway, plus occasional work in the Emerald Necklace parks and at external events.

Responsibilities
Social Media and Digital Communications
- Manage social media content for several platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, BlueSky, YouTube, LinkedIn). With assistance from the Visitor Engagement Associate, plan, create, curate and engage in daily content and ensure consistent branding and messaging. Meet annual goals for growing usership and engagement across platforms.
- Develop strategies and campaigns to increase audiences and engagement on the Conservancy's social media channels. Liaise with senior staff and a communications consultant in the development and execution of these strategies.
- Advise and coach colleagues and volunteers on contributing meaningful and impactful content and amplifying existing content on social media channels.
- Integrate new media ideas and trends into traditional communications.
- Maintain, expand and promote the Conservancy's Mobile Tour Guide.
- Ensure the creation, curation and daily upkeep of content for the Conservancy website (business hours, calendar events, updating information, etc.) Work with the Visitor Engagement Associate to execute updates.
- Participate in plans for a graphic and organizational refresh of the Conservancy website.
- Develop meaningful digital dialog and relationships with supporters and friends.
- Working with the Visitor Center Associate, track and use social media analytics to help inform marketing strategies.
Marketing and Communications
- Develop, plan, and execute a comprehensive multi-channel marketing and communications strategy annually that targets current and potential supporters. Work with staff and Board members as needed in the planning and execution.
