A Landscape Foreman manages, coordinates, and leads a crew on commercial or residential projects, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and safe completion of landscaping work. They are responsible for reading design plans, operating machinery, managing materials, training staff, and communicating with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate crew members (typically 2–3 people) to meet daily production goals and safety standards.
- Project Execution: Execute landscape designs, including planting, hardscaping (patios, walls), irrigation, and lighting, while performing hands-on, skilled labor.
- Site Management: Organize job sites, manage material delivery/inventory, and maintain equipment (skid steers, trucks, trailers).
- Quality Control & Safety: Ensure work meets quality standards, verify daily timesheets/paperwork, and enforce safety regulations.
- Client Relations: Communicate with managers or clients regarding project status and address on-site challenges.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a landscaper or crew leader.
- Proficiency in operating various landscaping equipment.
- Knowledge of plants, hardscape materials, and irrigation systems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license (often requiring a clean record for operating company vehicles).
- Ability to work in diverse, extreme weather conditions and lift up to 100 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in site layout and reading blueprints.
- Basic computer skills for reporting.
- Hardscape installation expertise (retaining walls, pavers).
