The Senior Accounting Specialist - Operations position is responsible for performing a variety of functions within the Finance department. This includes, but is not limited to, investment activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and various other requirements.
Requirements:
Essential Job Functions
- Verifies and corrects unposted items
- Prepares and files bi-weekly 945 tax withholding payments and annual returns
- Reviews and processes daily investment activity including payments, purchases, sales and reconciliation of accounts.
- Add, maintain and reconcile all prepaid expenses.
- Add, maintain and reconcile all fixed asset expenses.
- Creates and enters journal entries for various purposes within the department.
- Reconciles numerous general ledger and internal checking accounts. Timing of these reconciliations will be on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Gathers internal and external audit and exam request documents as needed.
Other Duties
- Serve as backup for various functions within the accounting department.
- Performs additional duties, as directed by management.
- General office and organizational skills.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred or minimum 5 years’ experience in bank accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of banking systems, financial reporting and general ledger accounting.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with office software including spreadsheets, word processing, and electronic mail applications.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to successfully work both as an individual contributor as well as a team member.
- Ability to multi-task conflicting priorities effectively.
- Ability to work successfully with time constraints.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Attention to detail.
