This contract position is for a Special Education Teacher supporting 1st-2nd grade students in an elementary school setting in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on providing educational support within an Autism program, working closely with a caseload of approximately 10 students exhibiting moderate to severe needs. The teacher will collaborate with paraprofessionals and instructional aides to deliver tailored learning experiences.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts DESE Certification as a Special Education Teacher required
- Experience working with elementary-age students, ideally within Autism programs
- Strong classroom management and individualized education plan (IEP) implementation skills
Job Details:
- Contract duration: July 7, 2025 to August 14, 2025, with potential to extend into the next school year
- Schedule: 22 hours per week, Monday through Thursday
- Age group: 1st and 2nd grade students with special needs
- Caseload: About 10 students with moderate to severe Autism spectrum needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and instructional aides to support students learning and behavior
- Monitor and document student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Communicate effectively with families and school staff regarding student development
