Job DescriptionDescription:

Lovell Academy is seeking a dedicated Learning Specialist to provide academic support to students across the school community, as we are committed to offering equitable academic support to all students who may benefit from additional guidance. The Learning Specialist will work closely with students to develop executive functioning skills, provide organizational and study strategies, and collaborate with faculty to support student success in the classroom.


This role is best suited for an educator with strong communication skills, a student-centered mindset, and the flexibility to respond to a range of academic needs within a fast-paced and unique school setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group academic support to students who require additional help in managing coursework.
  • Support students in building executive functioning skills such as time management, organization, study strategies, and self-advocacy.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain regular communication with teachers to ensure consistent support.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to identify and address student learning needs.
  • Serve as a resource to students and teachers for strategies that promote academic success.
  • Help students stay organized and manage workloads effectively, especially during high-demand athletic seasons.
  • Teach or assist in core subject areas as needed, particularly in CP-level English or History.
  • Maintain professional and confidential documentation of student interactions.
  • Be available to students and colleagues beyond the classroom to foster a supportive and connected school environment.
  • Occasionally assist with dormitory coverage on weekends or evenings, as part of a rotating staff duty schedule.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of three years of experience providing academic support to middle or high school students.
  • Strong understanding of executive functioning, learning strategies, and differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to support students across a range of content areas, especially writing and math.
  • Experience in an independent or boarding school environment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A flexible and team-oriented mindset, with a proactive and student-centered approach.
