Manages warehouse, purchasing and import/ export functions. Responsible for optimizing the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to final shipment. Coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows. Monitors operations, troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. This is a hands on managerial position and requires working side by side with the warehouse, purchasing and logistics staff to meet organizational goals.


Job Duties:

  • Coaches, mentors and develops team.
  • Responsible for meeting departmental/ company goals.
  • Oversees shipping, receiving and stockroom to ensure efficient, safe and accurate delivery of products. May be required to help in picking, packing and receiving as required.
  • Interact with transporters and carriers as needed.
  • Responsible for overseeing import/ export functions. Stays current on tax/ tariffs.
  • Follows policies and procedures for the purchase of goods and services.
  • Negotiates cash discounts, volume purchasing discounts and OEM pricing.
  • Selects vendors on basis of price, capability and past performance following departmental guidelines.
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are completed properly and the terms and conditions of purchase are appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate records, including price histories and documents issues with vendors.
  • Works closely with managers to ensure a “just in time” level of inventory and inventories are appropriate.
  • Expedites orders to meet delivery dates when needed.
  • Creation of work orders with drawings for machined or fabricated parts produced in house.
  • Attendance of part meetings to update the team on delivery and address any changes to scheduled or additional orders.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to review recommendations by vendors, stay up to date on new developments and work on cost reduction projects.
  • Review and maintain safety stock item increase or decrease due to movement. Add new items as required.
  • Monitor defected parts and take appropriate action with vendors to prevent future problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management ability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Knowledge of SAP and MS Office Suite.
  • Leadership ability/ experience.

Education/ Experience:

  • BS Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in materials management.
  • Strong understanding of tax and tariff codes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to hear and speak clearly in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
