Position Summary: Responsible for the installation, replacement, and startup of residential heating systems and related equipment. While primarily focused on HVAC installation, this role also includes plumbing-related tasks specific to residential heating boiler units and water heaters. Because heating boilers involve water piping and gas connections, the installer must be skilled in both HVAC principles and basic plumbing practices.
Key responsibilities include installing furnaces, boilers, water heaters, ventilation systems, and associated ductwork and piping; ensuring all installations meet code requirements; performing system start-ups and testing for proper operation; and providing a high level of customer service in residential settings. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in occupied homes.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in residential HVAC installation; boiler or water heater installation experience preferred
- Basic plumbing knowledge related to water piping and gas connections
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation manuals
- Strong understanding of local mechanical, plumbing, and gas codes
- EPA certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in attics, crawl spaces, and other tight or elevated spaces
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
