Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An elementary special education teaching opportunity is available in Pittsfield, MA, aimed at providing vital support to students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. This full-time contract position focuses on sub separate classrooms serving K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade students with severe needs. Candidates will work onsite in a supportive, dynamic school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specially designed instruction tailored to students with diverse and significant disabilities
- Managing caseloads that include students requiring toileting assistance and behavioral support
- Partnering with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) for some students to implement behavior interventions
- Supporting students on the autism spectrum, including non-verbal learners
- Monitoring and documenting student progress and adapting lessons as needed to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Prior experience in specially designed instruction, particularly within an elementary school setting
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) knowledge and experience applying these methods in classroom settings
- Ability to manage complex behavioral and physical needs with patience and professionalism
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and families
- Commitment to onsite work and active engagement in the school community
