Job Summary
The Assistant Superintendent plays an integral role in supporting the Superintendent in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of a construction project. They assist in managing the subcontractors, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and maintaining project schedules. Additionally, they contribute to maintaining high-quality workmanship and serve as a point of contact between the project team, subcontractors, and clients, facilitating efficient communication and assisting in the successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities
Site Set-up and Maintenance Support
Coordinates with internal and external equipment, material, and service suppliers to set up site trailer/office; sanitary facilities; temporary utilities; security and lighting systems; fencing and gates; vehicle circulation and parking installations; environmental protection installations; material staging installations; waste and recycling stations; safety systems; and safety, project, and access signage.
Assists the Superintendent in maintaining the integrity of the controlled access, housekeeping, hazardous materials handling, and waste management programs.
Safety Compliance Support
Assists the Superintendent with daily safety inspections.
Reports observed safety violations to the Superintendent.
Assists in maintaining the daily safety log.
Prepares weekly safety meeting agendas and toolbox talks, as directed by the Superintendent, and records safety meeting minutes.
Schedule Development Support
Assists the Superintendent in developing Look-Ahead Schedules.
QA/QC and Punch List Program Support
Assists the Superintendent in daily monitoring of subcontractor compliance with quality requirements.
Assists the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and Superintendent in mock-up, material testing and other quality assurance processes.
Assists the Quality Manager with trade, phase, and final punch list processes.
Drawings and Specification Requirements Support
Reviews drawings, specifications, and contracts to provide information or clarification on design or scope of work requirements.
Materials and Equipment Delivery Support
Supports the Superintendent in coordinating on-time delivery of equipment and materials from internal and Subcontractor sourced suppliers.
Assists with receiving logistics.
Subcontractor Meeting Support
Attends all weekly and ad hoc Subcontractor meetings.
Prepares meeting agendas and materials as directed.
Documentation Support
Assists the Superintendent in developing and maintaining accurate written and photographic documentation of work progress and issues.
Assures that drawing sets are in good order and reflect the current status of the Project.
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in the construction field.
Knowledge of relevant machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in construction science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering preferred.
At least two years of construction experience required.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
May require travel.
Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
Must be on call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
