The Warehouse Lead will help oversee operations (including the receiving & handling, identification & organization, data collection, reconciliation, storage, inventory management, and distribution of telecommunications cable) at our warehouse in New Jersey. The Warehouse Lead will serve as a back-up to the site leader, be a hands-on coach/player to the Warehouse team, help supervise/train the Warehouse staff, and assist in coordinating with our vendor partners. This hourly position will be based onsite at our Newark, NJ warehouse and will report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a back-up to the site leader and be a hands-on coach/player to the warehouse team
  • Help supervise and train warehouse staff
  • Help oversee scheduling activities for all logistics processes from receiving to delivery
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendor partners and customers
  • Help track and document service providers’ performance
  • Confirm receipt of cables from receiving and organize accordingly within warehouse
  • Help manage inventory (ensuring control and accuracy) and associated documentation
  • Inform Warehouse Supervisor on status of operational performance and ongoing issues
  • Ensure all service commitments (including quantity, quality, and timing) are met
  • Reinforce strict security protocols and ensure the protection of cable at all stages of custody
  • Help schedule and consolidate outbound deliveries to achieve lowest possible transportation costs
  • Reinforce safety practices and maintain safe work environment
  • Ensure appropriate safeguarding of equipment and cable to avoid injury or damage
  • Comply with safety protocols/environmental regulations/labor laws at all times
  • Assist with the creation of job protocols and ensure strict adherence
  • Assist with managing operational KPIs
  • Monitor operational performance through KPI reporting and data analysis
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and drive strategies/continuous improvements that will streamline processes and reduce costs
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in warehouse management, supply chain, transportation, logistics, or related business field
  • Minimum of 1 year of managerial/supervisory experience
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize/supervise multiple projects
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Possesses strong written & verbal communications with all levels of management, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to generate respect and trust from staff and key stakeholders (functional/cross-functional team members, customers, vendors) along with the ability to work collaboratively with staff/colleagues to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong desire to learn, develop, and expand professional skills for future leadership opportunities within the Operations function
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift and pull heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to complete physical fitness test
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a forklift and pass an internal forklift driving test
