Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) is a public charter school located in Malden, Massachusetts, serving over 1,600 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Job Description:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our Grades 7–12 faculty. This position is responsible for implementing the school’s Core Knowledge science curriculum and, at the high school level, delivering instruction aligned with the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and structured instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and, if applicable, the IB framework

  • Teach five subject-specific classes daily, as assigned

  • Develop and deliver lessons based on clearly defined learning objectives and unit plans

  • Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, and provide timely feedback via progress reports and report cards

  • Administer standardized tests as required by the Science Department Chair and school leadership

  • Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Science Department to discuss curriculum, instruction, assessments, and student performance

  • Maintain a well-managed classroom environment using MVRCS’s assertive discipline model

  • Participate in all staff meetings, required training sessions, and ongoing professional development

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Science Department Chair and/or Assistant Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, General Science, Math or a closely related field

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and act on instructional data

  • Proven skill in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with students, colleagues, and families

  • Familiarity with federal and state education laws and school policies

  • Experience designing and implementing standards-based instruction

  • Strong classroom management, time management, and organizational abilities

  • Ability to evaluate student performance and communicate results effectively

  • Knowledge of best practices in secondary science and math instruction and assessment

  • Successful completion of applicable MTELs within one year of employment

Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Science Department Chair and is a full-time, annual appointment subject to yearly evaluation.
