Program Overview
The Human Capital (HC) function exists to create clarity, consistency, and trust across the employee lifecycle. As a growing multi-site behavioral health organization, we require disciplined HR operations, strong manager support, and reliable systems to ensure compliance, employee experience, and organizational stability.
Role Summary
Reporting to HC Leadership, this role is an opportunity to be part of building out the HR function for our next level of growth from a 100-person organization to 200. The HC Generalist will be a highly organized, process- and data-driven professional responsible for the day-to-day execution of our core HR operations. This role ensures that recruiting, onboarding, employee documentation, payroll/benefits coordination, compliance processes, and HR data systems are accurate, consistent, and scalable.
The HR Generalist will also supervise Recruiter(s) and the recruiting function, ensuring accountability in candidate follow-up, hiring workflows, and recruiting service levels in coordination with program directors. In addition, this role will help streamline and align all HR technology platforms to ensure employee data integrity, documentation consistency, and proper system utilization.
Key Responsibilities
1. People Operations (Core HR Administration)
a. Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes
b. Ensure completion of 30/60/90-day onboarding processes and documentation
c. Maintain accurate employee records across all HR systems
d. Coordinate payroll data, status changes, and benefits administration
e. Maintain policy acknowledgements and compliance documentation
f. Support standardized termination processes including documentation and final pay coordination
2. HR Systems & Technology Management
a. Streamline and align HR technology platforms to ensure accurate data management (Paycom and Servis.ai)
b. Ensure employee data integrity across HRIS, payroll, benefits, and document systems
c. Maintain a centralized HR document hub and organized digital employee files
d. Identify process gaps between systems and support improvement initiatives
e. Support reporting and workforce metrics tracking (headcount, turnover, vacancies)
3. Recruiting Operations & Supervision
a. Supervise the Recruiter(s) and recruiting workflow execution
b. Ensure recruiting SLAs are met (interview scheduling, candidate follow-ups, communication)
c. Monitor candidate pipeline tracking and hiring documentation
d. Partner with managers to ensure hiring process consistency and compliance
e. Help improve recruiting accountability and candidate experience
4. Manager Support & HR Process Execution
a. Provide managers with toolkits, templates, and process guidance
b. Support performance management documentation (PIPs, reviews, disciplinary documentation)
c. Assist with employee relations documentation and issue tracking
d. Help maintain clear escalation and decision-rights processes
5. Compliance & Risk Support
a. Maintain audit-ready HR documentation
b. Support compliance with employment laws, classification, and documentation requirements
c. Ensure consistent documentation practices across all employee lifecycle events
6. Process Improvement & Operational Discipline
d. Follow established HR SOPs, create new SOPs, and ensure consistent process execution
e. Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
f. Proactively flag documentation gaps, risks, or inconsistencies

Ø Strong understanding of HR operations and employee lifecycle processes
Ø Experience working with HRIS, payroll and benefit systems
Ø Ability to bring structure, documentation, and process discipline to HR work
Ø Strong communication skills and ability to support managers effectively
Ø Comfort supervising recruiting operations and holding workflow accountability
Ø High level of discretion with sensitive employee information
Ø Ability to translate process into system usage and documentation standards
Qualifications
Ø 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist or HR Operations experience
Ø Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems (Servis.ai, Paycom)
Ø Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
o HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred
Ø Experience in a multi-site or healthcare environment preferred
o Experience supporting onboarding, employee documentation, and compliance processes
o Demonstrated experience in benefits administration, payroll support, and HR data management
Ø Exceptional interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
o High degree of emotional intelligence, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information
o Strong organizational and documentation skills
o Experience supervising or coordinating recruiting functions strongly preferred
Ø Proficient in all Microsoft and G-Suite products

Ø The HR Generalist is expected to attend meetings across all SMG locations as needed, and provide timely updates aligned with organizational needs
