Job Description
The Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Specialist supports daily laboratory operations by ensuring that customer equipment, internal standards, and consumables are handled, tracked, and stored in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. This role is responsible for accurate equipment intake and return, inventory control, and maintaining a clean and organized logistics workflow that supports timely calibration and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Great care for handling wide variety of equipment
- Oversee and keep records for all incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments
- Prepare packing lists for shipments, customer pick-ups, and deliveries
- Count, measure, or weigh assets to verify contents of shipments any documentation provided
- Record shipment data, including weight, charges, etc.
- Examine items for defects and document appropriately for the customer service team to notify the customer regarding the condition of the assets upon arrival
- Route items to appropriate departments/personnel
- Review shipping notices, bills of lading and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Drive to customer/vendor sites to pick-up and/or deliver equipment and materials using company vehicle
- Coordinate with the customer service and accounting members when necessary to ship out packages in a timely manner
- Carry out additional administrative tasks as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including maintaining organized return boxes, monitoring shipping materials inventory, and handling drop-off and pick-up activities at the mailbox
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or other related fields
- Previous experience with shipping software such as UPS and USPS
- Accurate and efficient data entry
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team; must be able to prioritize and multitask
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word primarily)
- Ability to handle physical workload on a daily basis: Bending, Driving, Kneeling, Lifting (up to 50 lb), Moving, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Standing, Stooping
- Excellent Driving Record
