OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Managing Director, Talent oversees the execution of key talent functions at ANet, including human resources, talent acquisition, and talent development. This role ensures that systems, processes, and practices are delivered effectively, consistently, and in alignment with our values.

The Managing Director will lead and support the Talent Team focused on daily operations, ensuring we have the infrastructure and support in place to meet organizational needs. They will partner closely with senior leaders and people managers to ensure talent-related processes run smoothly and all ANetters are supported throughout their employee lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee Execution of Core Talent Functions

  • Manage the daily execution of HR, talent acquisition, and talent development processes across the organization, ensuring they align with organizational goals and are delivered effectively.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and systems are consistently applied and maintained across team, fostering standardization and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee essential workflows including payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, performance reviews, and hiring processes, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  • Work with legal counsel, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, minimizing risk and maintaining legal protections.
  • Support the implementation of talent tools and systems (e.g., Insperity, JazzHR, CultureAmp), ensuring data integrity and consistency across all platforms.

Manage and Support the Talent Team

  • Directly manage a team, providing clear guidance and support to ensure efficient execution of their responsibilities.
  • Encourage strong collaboration and communication across team members and between the Talent Team and other departments to ensure effective coordination and alignment.
  • Monitor team progress, offering coaching, resources, and feedback to ensure high-quality execution of tasks and projects.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, performance conversations, and professional development planning with direct reports to ensure continuous growth and development.

Ensure Excellence in Talent Workflows

  • Coordinate and manage timelines and deliverables for key HR activities, including performance management cycles, staffing plans, and compliance tasks, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Maintain and manage the Talent Team’s budget, including processing invoices, tracking expenses, and forecasting financial needs to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to ensure that workforce and staffing data is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for operational use.
  • Provide regular updates on Talent operations to senior leadership, offering insights into team progress, challenges, and opportunities.

WHAT YOU BRING

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience managing HR operations, recruitment, or talent systems in a mid-size or ed tech organization
  • Strong people management skills, with experience directly managing other managers
  • Ability to implement systems, tools, and processes consistently and equitably across a remote, distributed team
  • Skilled in managing projects, prioritizing competing tasks, and ensuring high-quality execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with employment law and compliance, including experience partnering with legal counsel or PEOs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to our values with experience applying equal practices to people management and operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in both nonprofit or mission-driven for-profit environments
  • Prior experience managing people operations in a fully remote or hybrid workplace

  • Planning and Prioritizing: Breaks down complex tasks into actionable steps, prioritizing and executing work efficiently while adapting to evolving organizational needs and timelines.
  • Management: Leads and develops a high-performing talent team, providing coaching, guidance, and resources to ensure alignment with organizational goals and the successful execution of key talent functions.

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is between $114,750 - $153,000. New hires will start between the range minimum and midpoint ($114,750 - $137,700) based on qualifications assessed during the hiring process, past experience, and internal equity.
