Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school district in Somerville, MA, seeks two full-time Special Education Teachers to support the academic and developmental growth of elementary students. This contract role runs from ASAP through June, with work hours of 35 per week scheduled between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, varying by classroom setting.

The positions include:

  • Special Education Teacher for a Resource Classroom
  • Special Education Teacher for a PreK Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classroom

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Massachusetts Teacher License in Special Education required
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings
  • Ability to design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction and interventions to students with diverse learning needs
  • Manage caseloads effectively, whether for Resource or PreK ASD classrooms
  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture that promotes respect and growth
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate closely with other educators, therapists, and staff to support student development
