Job DescriptionWe are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage procurement processes and ensure the efficient delivery of goods and services. Based in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, this role combines in-office and remote work, offering a dynamic and flexible work environment.
Responsibilities:
• Research and evaluate potential vendors to identify the best sources for goods and services.
• Process and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and provide timely support.
• Maintain and update inventory records to ensure optimal stock levels are met.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and adherence to contractual terms.
• Utilize procurement software and ERP systems to streamline purchasing activities and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare reports and analyze purchasing data to support decision-making and improve processes.
• Address and resolve any issues related to orders, deliveries, or supplier performance.
• Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and new supplier opportunities.• 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or a related field.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems such as Epicor, Great Plains, or similar tools.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting functions, including accounts payable and budget processes.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills to manage supplier relationships effectively.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights to improve procurement processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
