Position:

We are seeking an exceptional Field Application Scientist (FAS) to be part of the sales and marketing team. The FAS provides scientific guidance, demonstrations and in-field technical support and customer service. In addition, the FAS will partner with customers and internal resources to identify customer needs, and recommend and implement solutions. The successful candidate must be willing to roll up sleeves to help customers set up experiments. As an integral part of the sales and marketing team, the FAS must have the drive and ability to network and make connections to identify prospects and propagate catalog products and additional service offerings.


Key Responsibilities:

· Provide technical and sales support to research labs working in academia and industry. Conduct product demonstrations at customer sites and remotely.

· Provide scientific consultation and project guidance to customers. Conduct gap analysis, troubleshoot issues, and deliver trainings on Conigen’s products and assays.

· Advise and assist customers with experimental design, assay design, and reporting of results. Work closely with customers to ensure successful implementation and utilization of our solutions.

· Work with the customer and internal team to specify custom products and service projects.

· Perform bench work as needed during trainings and demos of Conigen’s technology.

· Develop application notes by collaborating with internal and external partners.

· Organize and lead local trade show / tabletop show activities, networking within the scientific and biopharma communities to promote company’s brand awareness.

· Contribute to marketing activities with content generation, seminars and webinars.

· Prepare abstracts and present presentations and posters at scientific meetings. .

· Participate in national and regional trade show activities

· Provide updates on best practices and new developments in the field internally and to customers.

· Collect and document customer needs and feedback from the field to improve Conigen’s product and service offerings.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in biological sciences such as biochemistry, immunology, virology or a related field.
  • Research experience in fields related to protein chemistry, expression, purification, and antibody discovery, including the following:
  • membrane protein, viral-like particle and soluble protein expression and purifications; preferable experience using AKTA system.
  • mammalian cell culture and transfection.
  • protein-protein interaction analysis, including solid phase binding, binding kinetics and affinity, fluorescence and bead-based assays.
  • molecular biology techniques such as mammalian expression construct design, PCR and RT-PCR.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and train scientists on new methods, protocols, and reagents.
  • Demonstrated ability in organizing events, such as symposiums, chapter events for scientific societies, networking events, student activities, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as demonstrated in scientific writing and presentations to large scientific audiences.
  • Proven ability to solve problems timely with critical and creative thinking.
  • Detailed oriented, well-organized work habits. Ability to work independently on agreed priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record in collaboration within a highly cross-functional team environment as a strong team player.

  • NOTE: This is a Boston-area based position with significant travel requirements. The candidate must be based in the greater Boston area
