YMCA Camp Abnaki is seeking dedicated Food Service Staff to join our summer team and support the overall food operations of our residential boys’ camp. Under the supervision of the Food Services Director, this role is responsible for helping prepare, serve, and clean up after daily meals, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and dining environment. Food Service Staff play an important role in creating a positive camp experience by helping fuel campers and staff with healthy, nourishing meals.
Schedule and Location
This is a seasonal, full-time position located at Camp Abnaki in North Hero, Vermont. This position would start ASAP and work through mid-August. This is a live-on-site role; housing and meals are provided.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals for approximately 200 people per meal
- Set up and break down the dining hall for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Wash dishes, cookware, and utensils; clean and sanitize kitchen and dining areas
- Follow all food safety protocols and help maintain food service records
- Accommodate special dietary needs as directed (e.g., allergies, vegetarian, gluten-free)
- Use kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues
- Support the Food Services Director with additional tasks as needed
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with a team.
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) safe food handling and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a physically active role, including standing for long periods and lifting to 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to live on-site for the duration of the camp season (housing and meals provided).
