AEIS is a premier inspection services and materials testing company in the New York Metropolitan area. Our dedicated team takes an interdisciplinary approach to solving complex problems. We are currently looking for a Civil and Geotechnical Subject Matter Expert.The successful candidate for this position will have a New York (and preferably NJ) Professional Engineer license. The person will :
- ensure conformance to codes by preparing and conduction building inspections; identifying violations; recommending compliance procedures; documenting observations.
- ensure quality by supervising/conducting materials and structural component tests and evaluations for material characterization and failure analysis; maintaining standards; analyzing findings; preparing reports.
- complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare inspection schedule by studying permits, plans and specifications; estimating travel and inspection times; coordinating site visits; developing schedules.
- Determine compliance to codes by inspecting work in progress and accomplished, including Geotechnical, Civil and Structural.
- Attain compliance to codes by issuing notices for corrections; interpreting codes; recommending compliance procedures.
- Record compliance by documenting progress and violations.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and legal regulations.
- Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding new standards; participating in educational opportunities, trade shows and conferences; reading technical/professional publications.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Implement corrective action when non-conforming work or departures from policies and procedures are uncovered.
- Sign or otherwise approve inspection reports and inspection certificates.
- Determine materials durability by conducting failure tests; analyze findings.
- Improve materials, products and processes by recommending changes based on analytical findings; investigate and resolve concerns; develop new tests.
- Improve quality results by following ISO 17020 and 17025 standards; study, evaluate, and re-design processes; implement changes.
- Help customers by answering technical questions; respond to requests.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
- Determine project specifications by studying project design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
- Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
- Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Control project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.
- Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
- Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
- Maintain project database by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.
- Ensure confidentiality of information obtained in the course of its inspection activities. Proprietary rights of the company and clients shall be protected.
- Ensure that purchase orders are reviewed and approved for technical content prior to release.
- Ensure that sampling plan and procedures are documented/reviewed to avoid deterioration or damage to inspection items while under your responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering
- Professional Engineering License with registration in New York
- Knowledge of NYC Building Codes
- Must have pile driving experience
Salary is commensurate with experience in a similar role and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This role is an exempt, full-time salaried position.
