Job Description
Job DescriptionDescription:
The Worcester Art Museum is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our Security team as Part-Time Security Guards. This non-exempt position offers an hourly wage of $16.25. Security Guards serve as the eyes and ears of the Museum behind the scenes, ensuring the safety of the artwork, building, and staff. This role is primarily back-of-house, with responsibilities centered on monitoring security systems, controlling access to secure spaces, and facilitating deliveries and authorized entry. Guards are not stationed in public galleries and do not serve as frontline visitor-facing staff.
Activities can vary between shifts. Sometimes you will conduct rounds throughout the facility, checking doors, alarms, and mechanical areas, while also documenting daily activities and reporting any anomalies. Some shifts may be more focused on accepting deliveries and signing in visitors and contractors. Following established departmental protocols is essential, including promptly contacting the appropriate parties in the event of an emergency. We are looking for individuals with confidence and sound judgment who can assess situations, follow established protocols, and take appropriate action when needed, while also maintaining clear communication with management and colleagues.
We are currently hiring for day (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) and second (4:00 PM–midnight) shifts. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays, as coverage is required at all times. The second shift often involves the most schedule variability due to evening events. Day shift guards play an important role in managing daytime access and supporting Museum operations while staff are on site. This position best suits individuals who are comfortable working independently in a structured, behind-the-scenes environment with limited direct interaction with the public. Successful candidates approach safety, communication, and collaboration with respect for people from all backgrounds and are comfortable working in a diverse, inclusive environment.
