The Accountant will serve as a key member of the finance team and a contributor in a dynamic and diverse organization. The position is responsible for administering all aspects of finances and works in partnership with multiple stakeholders. This includes overseeing and processing all income, accounts payable, and payroll.
Depending on the candidate, this can be either a 32 hour or 40 hour per week position. It is required to be in person at least 24 hours per week.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Financial Administration
Provide accurate accounting of all financial transactions
Ensure proper procedural controls are developed and followed
Manage accounts payable, credit cards, and prepaid debit cards for staff and volunteers
Process payroll, including new hire entries
Perform monthly bank reconciliations, maintain banking and mortgage relationships
Prepare state and local filings, including sales tax requirements
Prepare month-end financial reports
Conduct analyses as requested
Coordinate annual audit with CPA
Develop and prepare annual audit materials
Assist leadership and team members with event management and reporting
Participate in the annual budget process with the Director of Finance
B. Donations, Registrations, and Form Management

Oversee cash, check, and online donations along with related software platforms

Maintain weekly entries of donations, pledge contributions, and other form payments

Provide end-of-year donation statement summaries online and in print as requested

Support program registration, form management, and capital campaign administration

Work collaboratively with other staff as needed

Participate in staff meetings

College degree in Accounting or related field with applied experience in business or nonprofit enterprises

3 to 5 years of prior accounting experience (fund accounting experience preferred)

Strong interpersonal and professional skills

Must pass all background checks and clearances required by the state of Massachusetts

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Strong accounting and budgeting skills

Prior use of accounting software packages and online giving or membership software
