Job Description

As Vice President of Application Development, you will lead Aptarro's product engineering teams responsible for ClaimStaker and RCE, our mission-critical platforms. This net-new leadership role is responsible for timely, high-quality delivery across application engineering, with a mandate to modernize our architecture, elevate execution, and align closely with our go-to-market and product strategy. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role. You will manage engineering teams for two .NET-based applications, and partner with peers in Product, QA, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering to ensure our platforms deliver value at scale to enterprise and mid-market customers.

You will be instrumental in:

  • Extending the product capabilities to meet emerging needs for the RCE and SaaS RCE customers.
  • Leading modernization of our ClaimStaker platform.
  • Strengthening engineering execution and operational rigor to support consistent and timely releases.
  • Advancing reusable components across ClaimStaker and RCE to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Contributing to internal platform development (e.g., content authoring tools) to improve velocity and quality.

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Timely delivery of platform enhancements and new features aligned with product roadmap.
  • Progress on cloud migration milestones for RCE and ClaimStaker.
  • Improved SDLC maturity, release predictability, and operational escalation processes.
  • Engineering contributions to AI, internal tooling, and convergence efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Operate as a hands-on leader ("player/coach") of the application development organization.
  • Lead teams responsible for ClaimStaker and RCE, with an emphasis on architectural modernization, delivery consistency, and cross-platform synergy.
  • Partner with Product and Customer Operations to translate roadmap priorities into executable plans.
  • Own convergence strategy between ClaimStaker and RCE, including reusable rules engines and content alignment.

Engineering Execution

  • Oversee upgrades and modernization efforts, including Angular 17 upgrade and refactoring for cloud-readiness.
  • Guide the evolution of Cloud Rules and internal content tools to increase supportability and user value.
  • Ensure execution of release processes for ClaimStaker and RCE aligned with SDLC.
  • Institutionalize operations-to-engineering escalation processes for rapid issue response.

Platform Modernization & Convergence

  • Drive progress on the cloud migration of ClaimStaker in alignment with Cloud Engineering.
  • Evaluate pathways to componentize ClaimStaker/CodeWizard rules for use within RCE.
  • Lead tradeoff analysis and decision-making on architectural convergence between platforms.

Innovation & Internal Tools

  • Partner on the development and MVP delivery of internal content authoring tools.
  • Support initiatives related to AI/CAC pilots and content automation strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation of scalable engineering processes and reusable infrastructure.

Culture & Talent Development

  • Build and lead high-performing, engaged engineering teams with clear accountability and direction.
  • Foster a culture of quality, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Mentor technical leaders and engineers to grow expertise in cloud-native development, process rigor, and product-oriented thinking.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering leadership, including leading distributed teams delivering enterprise-grade software.
  • Deep experience with .NET, Angular, and modern web architectures;
  • Background in healthcare software, particularly claims management or payer-provider integrations.
  • Proven ability to drive execution in complex organizations and deliver against product roadmaps.
  • Experience with SDLC governance, agile engineering, and CI/CD practices.
  • Demonstrated success modernizing legacy platforms and leading convergence initiatives.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration experience across Product, Operations, and QA.
  • Geographically located within 1 hour drive of Burlington, VT; Tallahassee, FL; Austin, TX; or Atlanta, GA in support of periodic face to face coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud migration and hybrid environments.
  • Experience modernizing applications for SaaS delivery.
  • Previous leadership in PE-backed or growth-stage software companies.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target bonus: 15%
  • Performance Incentive Units (PIUs)
  • Remote-first work model with periodic travel
  • Executive-level visibility and opportunity to shape core product delivery
