As Vice President of Application Development, you will lead Aptarro's product engineering teams responsible for ClaimStaker and RCE, our mission-critical platforms. This net-new leadership role is responsible for timely, high-quality delivery across application engineering, with a mandate to modernize our architecture, elevate execution, and align closely with our go-to-market and product strategy. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role. You will manage engineering teams for two .NET-based applications, and partner with peers in Product, QA, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering to ensure our platforms deliver value at scale to enterprise and mid-market customers.
You will be instrumental in:
- Extending the product capabilities to meet emerging needs for the RCE and SaaS RCE customers.
- Leading modernization of our ClaimStaker platform.
- Strengthening engineering execution and operational rigor to support consistent and timely releases.
- Advancing reusable components across ClaimStaker and RCE to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Contributing to internal platform development (e.g., content authoring tools) to improve velocity and quality.
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Timely delivery of platform enhancements and new features aligned with product roadmap.
- Progress on cloud migration milestones for RCE and ClaimStaker.
- Improved SDLC maturity, release predictability, and operational escalation processes.
- Engineering contributions to AI, internal tooling, and convergence efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Operate as a hands-on leader ("player/coach") of the application development organization.
- Lead teams responsible for ClaimStaker and RCE, with an emphasis on architectural modernization, delivery consistency, and cross-platform synergy.
- Partner with Product and Customer Operations to translate roadmap priorities into executable plans.
- Own convergence strategy between ClaimStaker and RCE, including reusable rules engines and content alignment.
Engineering Execution
- Oversee upgrades and modernization efforts, including Angular 17 upgrade and refactoring for cloud-readiness.
- Guide the evolution of Cloud Rules and internal content tools to increase supportability and user value.
- Ensure execution of release processes for ClaimStaker and RCE aligned with SDLC.
- Institutionalize operations-to-engineering escalation processes for rapid issue response.
Platform Modernization & Convergence
- Drive progress on the cloud migration of ClaimStaker in alignment with Cloud Engineering.
- Evaluate pathways to componentize ClaimStaker/CodeWizard rules for use within RCE.
- Lead tradeoff analysis and decision-making on architectural convergence between platforms.
Innovation & Internal Tools
- Partner on the development and MVP delivery of internal content authoring tools.
- Support initiatives related to AI/CAC pilots and content automation strategies.
- Contribute to the creation of scalable engineering processes and reusable infrastructure.
Culture & Talent Development
- Build and lead high-performing, engaged engineering teams with clear accountability and direction.
- Foster a culture of quality, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Mentor technical leaders and engineers to grow expertise in cloud-native development, process rigor, and product-oriented thinking.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering leadership, including leading distributed teams delivering enterprise-grade software.
- Deep experience with .NET, Angular, and modern web architectures;
- Background in healthcare software, particularly claims management or payer-provider integrations.
- Proven ability to drive execution in complex organizations and deliver against product roadmaps.
- Experience with SDLC governance, agile engineering, and CI/CD practices.
- Demonstrated success modernizing legacy platforms and leading convergence initiatives.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration experience across Product, Operations, and QA.
- Geographically located within 1 hour drive of Burlington, VT; Tallahassee, FL; Austin, TX; or Atlanta, GA in support of periodic face to face coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cloud migration and hybrid environments.
- Experience modernizing applications for SaaS delivery.
- Previous leadership in PE-backed or growth-stage software companies.
