Choo & Company, Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. Based in Quincy, MA, we specialize in architecture, engineering, and construction management, focusing on commercial and multi-family residential projects throughout the Greater Boston area. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems in wood, steel, masonry, and concrete for a variety of building types, including restaurants, multi-family residential, and commercial projects.
  • Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and design analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct field investigations to assess existing structures and provide recommendations for design improvements.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and contractors to develop efficient and practical solutions.
  • Provide construction phase services, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, performing periodic site visits, and conducting specialized structural inspections as needed.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI).


Qualifications

  • PE License (Professional Engineer) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit, RISA and other structural engineering software is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and structural analysis principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface directly with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with rehabilitation, renovation, and repair of existing structures.
  • Knowledge of seismic design and analysis is a bonus.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee projects from proposal to construction administration.
