Academic Advisor
Exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a nationally respected doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. Guide and mentor Psy.D. students from orientation through graduation, supporting their academic and professional growth. Play a key role in a rigorous, APA-accredited program dedicated to developing future leaders in mental health.
Compensation: $ 70,000- 80,000
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary resource for doctoral students, providing individualized academic advising and long-term planning.
- Collaborate with faculty and leadership to ensure coordinated and consistent student support.
- Interpret and communicate academic policies, degree requirements, and program expectations.
- Monitor student progress, identify challenges early, and provide proactive guidance and resources.
- Support and facilitate student orientation and transition programs to promote academic readiness and engagement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential advising records; assist with data collection and reporting for program improvement.
- Communicate important academic deadlines, policy updates, and key milestones effectively to students and staff.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, higher education, or a related field (doctoral degree preferred).
- Minimum of three years of experience in academic advising or student services, ideally at the graduate or professional level.
- Strong knowledge of higher education policies, student development theory, and best practices in advising.
- Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative, student-centered approach with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Experience working with APA-accredited or doctoral-level training programs is a plus.
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule: three days on-site and two days remote.
- Campus located in Newton, MA, with parking available.
- Requires occasional evening hours during peak advising periods.
- Participation in major program events such as orientation, open houses, and commencement.
