Job DescriptionMantis Innovation provides managed facility services and turnkey program management with technology-enabled solutions that target the entire building footprint. We look at the entire facility—inside and out—and can impact 70% of what a building operator allocates critical budget dollars toward, including: Strategic electricity and natural gas procurement, renewable energy, and demand response; climate impact reduction and reporting, net zero strategies, and sustainability planning; roofing, solar, HVAC assessment management, pavement, building envelope, data center optimization, and EV charging; lighting/LED retrofits, HVAC/mechanical systems, and BMS/BAS improvements and implementation.
We’re seeking a proven sales leader with experience in B2B energy procurement brokerage sales specializing in electricity, natural gas, and green energy. In other words, you have played at all levels and now you want to help others get to their next level.* Proven ability to drive new business growth and existing accounts.* Relentless focus on performance, accountability, and exceeding bookings targets.* Adaptable and agile in managing shifting priorities, market dynamics, and team needs.* Able to take bold risks in the pursuit of worthy opportunities for your team and the company.GENERAL PURPOSE: We’re seeking a Director of Sales to lead and scale our SMB (Small & Medium Business) Energy Sales team. You will play a critical role in driving revenue growth within the larger Energy sales team, developing and implementing effective sales strategies, and fostering strong team cohesion through coaching and mentorship. This is a pure leadership role—no individual quota—focused on coaching, inspiring, and driving results through others. You’ll manage a growing team of 6–10 sales professionals who are focused on deals up to ~5,000MWh. Your expertise in direct energy sales, strategic thinking, and risk-taking will be key to unlocking your team’s full potential.
Reports to: VP of Sales, EnergyDirect Reports: Team of SMB Sales ExecutivesHybrid Schedule: 4 days in-office/week.Travel: 30-40% based on client needs, team meetings, leadership summits, etc.Sales Leadership, Coaching, and Training
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance to the sales team to enhance their skills and performance.
- Lead from the front—model excellence through active participation in sales efforts.
- Build and scale the SMB sales team through identifying top talent, collaboration with recruitment efforts, and fostering a winning culture.
- Develop and implement coaching programs to improve individual and team performance.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews to provide feedback that fuels professional growth.
- Drive automation initiatives to streamline SMB sales processes and boost efficiency.
- Establish and develop cross-functional department relationships, e.g. Operations, Marketing, Administration.
Reporting and Analysis
- Deliver clear, actionable sales reports and forecasts to track performance against goals.
- Analyze sales performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential areas for improvement.
- Provide strategic insights to senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct B2B Energy Sales Experience: 5–10 years selling electricity, natural gas, or green energy contracts (supplier or broker backgrounds welcome).
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and inspire sales teams—even if your formal title wasn’t “manager.”
- Multi-year track record of exceeding team quotas ($5M+)
- Strong leadership skills with a coaching mindset and the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and business growth.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Sales or sales management experience in some combination of energy procurement and adjacent energy efficiency solutions.
- Data and metrics orientation and experience working with major CRM systems.

The above salary mentioned is considered OTE (On Target Earnings) comprised of base salary PLUS manager bonus incentives based on team success.Note: Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.
