Job Description
The Senior Purchasing Buyer will manage sole-source and technically complex suppliers including laser diodes, rods, optics, electronics, and precision assemblies, while navigating advance-payment terms, long lead times, and constrained operating liquidity.
Responsibilities
- Own procurement of HTL laser head components, including:
- Laser diodes and diode stacks
- Optical rods, mirrors, coatings, and resonator components
- Power supplies, electronics, and HV test equipment
- Precision mechanical assemblies and thermal components
- Support fiber, handpiece, and accessory sourcing aligned with HTL platform demand.
- Supplier Management & Risk Mitigation
- Manage sole-source and critical suppliers (e.g., laser diodes, optical components).
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms (including prepayments), and supply commitments.
- Develop risk mitigation plans for supplier disruptions, including alternate sourcing and buffer strategies.
- Coordinate supplier performance reviews focused on delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
- Production & Inventory Execution
- Align purchasing activity with HTL build schedules, NPI milestones, and recovery plans.
- Manage advance inventory purchases required to support 20+ HTL builds and continuous production.
- Balance inventory levels to support scale while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
- Actively expedite materials to resolve shortages impacting laser head builds and customer deliveries.
- Cross-Functional Integration
- Work closely with Engineering on HTL laser head validation, component matching, and design-for-supply.
- Manufacturing to support build readiness, subassemblies, and production flow.
- Quality & Regulatory to ensure compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Finance on cash forecasting, prepayment planning, and cost-of-goods tracking.
- Support production transfer and localization initiatives from EU to U.S. manufacturing.
- Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all procured materials meet OmniGuide’s quality, traceability, and regulatory requirements.
- Support supplier qualification, audits, and corrective actions (SCARs).
- Maintain documentation required for lot control, inspections, and regulatory audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
- 7+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in medical devices, laser systems, optics, or capital equipment.
- Hands-on experience sourcing laser, photonics, optical, and high-voltage components.
- Proven ability to manage long lead times, advance payment terms, and constrained suppliers.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, high-pressure environments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
- 5+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in medical devices, laser systems, optics, or capital equipment.
- Hands-on experience sourcing laser, photonics, optical, and high-voltage components.
- Proven ability to manage long lead times, advance payment terms, and constrained suppliers.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, high-pressure environments.
Preferred Skills
- Direct experience with high-power laser systems or fiber-based medical lasers.
- Experience supporting first production units (FPU), NPI, or production scale-up.
- Familiarity with EU and U.S. supplier environments.
- APICS / CPSM certification.
