Job Title: Community Engagement Specialist
Overview:
This role focuses on building community relationships, promoting oral health, and connecting members with dental care services. The specialist will engage with local organizations, providers, and members to expand awareness, support access to care, and provide education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations.
- Provide resources and training on oral health programs.
- Participate in community events and directly engage with members.
- Make outreach calls to members to connect them with dental providers.
- Support relationships with local dental providers and share program updates.
- Represent the program in coalitions, workgroups, and community meetings.
- Document activities and outcomes accurately and on time.
- Use creative, proactive outreach strategies (calls, meetings, events).
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work culture.
- Complete professional development requirements, including possible certification as a Community Health Worker.

- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
- Cultural and linguistic competency; understanding of health equity and social determinants of health.
- Comfortable working independently and in a team.
- Organized, adaptable, and able to manage time effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer use.
- Reliable transportation required; ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in outreach, training, facilitation, or community engagement.
- Experience working in rural or underserved communities.
- Community Health Worker certification or interest in obtaining it.
- Oral health experience a plus, but not required.
- Bilingual skills highly valued.
