Job DescriptionThe Human Resources Specialist is vital in supporting and streamlining HR processes for all Deringer colleagues. This role offers essential administrative support to the HR department, concentrating on HRIS data entry and configuration, as well as routine HR reporting and auditing. Additionally, the Specialist assists colleagues by addressing benefits inquiries and works alongside the Senior Human Resources Generalist to manage leave administration. Offers support to the HR team, emphasizing HRIS entry and configuration, payroll assistance, and collaboration with the Senior Human Resources Generalist, along with standard HR reporting and auditing responsibilities.The Human Resources Specialist is dedicated to preserving the integrity of HR data, ensuring that all colleague information is accurately recorded and kept up to date. With a strong sense of adaptability, the Human Resources Specialist embraces new technologies and practices to effectively cater to the evolving needs of the workforce.This position offers a mid-level opportunity with potential for future advancement and a career path within a skilled Human Resources team. While this role can be performed remotely from the wider New York, Vermont, or New Hampshire area, we do require quarterly travel to our St. Albans location for team meetings and training sessions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the administration of leave management, including FMLA and state-specific leave policies.
  • Provides necessary support to the HR function, including record-keeping, file maintenance, HRIS data entry, and assistance with benefits administration.
  • Helps reconcile benefits statements.
  • Accurately enters data into the HRIS for new hires, terminations, and updates such as job changes, promotions, and salary adjustments.
  • Collaborates with Payroll to:
    • Maintain, audit, and troubleshoot timekeeping systems.
    • Reconcile payroll after transmission and verify confirmed reports.
    • Understand the appropriate taxation of employer-paid benefits.
    • Process HRIS changes accurately to ensure compliance.
  • Works alongside the HRIS Partner to configure back-end settings for optimal functionality.
  • Creates ad hoc reports and dashboards to deliver HR analytics.
  • Collaborates with team members to monitor and audit system configurations or process changes through regular data reviews.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of HR initiatives designed to boost colleague engagement and enhance organizational culture.
  • Keeps accurate documentation and records of HR processes to promote transparency and accountability.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to remain informed about HR best practices and emerging trends.
  • Assists in drafting and reviewing HR policies to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Coordinates and manages special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years of Human Resources experience
  • Knowledgeable about human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven time management abilities with a history of meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, especially UKG/UltiPro, is highly desirable.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, thriving in fast-paced environments.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
