American Consumer Credit Counseling (ACCC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991, offering confidential credit counseling, debt management, and financial education services to individuals and families across the United States. Headquartered in Auburndale, Massachusetts, ACCC provides assistance both online and via phone nationwide

The Role

  • As a Credit Counselor, you’ll speak with clients about their financial situations, challenges, and hardships to help them understand their options. You’ll build trust by listening closely and responding with empathy. Clients should leave the conversation feeling supported, informed, and hopeful about managing their finances.
  • You’ll guide clients through a full review of their income, expenses, and debts to create a personalized budget. Based on this information, you’ll recommend appropriate solutions, which may include a Debt Management Plan (DMP). If a DMP is the best fit, you’ll explain the program benefits and encourage enrollment.
  • We provide comprehensive training to help you master personal finance, credit, and the services we offer. By the time you start taking calls, you'll be confident and prepared to guide clients toward effective solutions and meaningful change.

What Makes You a Great Fit for This Role

  • 1–2 years of phone-based customer service experience

  • Background in financial services, sales, or collections

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Willing to obtain NFCC certification during training (we’ll guide you through it)

  • Ability to work from a quiet, private space with minimal distractions

  • Professional, friendly, and clear communicator

  • Receptive to feedback and coaching

  • Reliable, flexible, and open to change

  • Strong listening skills with a natural ability to connect with people

  • Empathetic, non-judgmental, and motivated to support others

  • Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Physical & Communication Requirements

  • Must be able to speak clearly and professionally on the phone for extended periods

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer

  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for typing and using a mouse

  • Regular use of a headset for phone communication

  • Ability to remain focused and engaged in a screen-based, high-volume environment

  • Must have a quiet, private, and distraction-free workspace

  • Occasionally may need to lift or move items up to 10 pounds

Schedule & Availability

  • Attendance: Must maintain regular and reliable attendance

  • Regular Hours: Available until 10:30 PM EST Tuesday–Friday, and until 8:00 PM EST on Saturdays

  • Schedule: Open to a 4-day, 10-hour workweek that includes Saturdays

  • Training: Must be available for 6–8 weeks of remote training, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST

  • Weekends & Holidays: Must be available to work Saturdays and select holidays until 8:00 PM EST, based on business needs
